If you’re reading this, then my guess is that two things are true:
The first is that you’re already somewhat familiar with my work. You are likely on my email list and may have been following me on social media for years now. Maybe you’ve even been to a few workshops or webinars with me.
Second? You’ve got a deep feeling that "this is my year". You’ve been working on this business for a while now but something in you is telling you that this is the year to really go for it.
I’ll hazard a few more guesses…
You’re likely suspicious of AI and want your marketing and business to remain human in this increasingly synthetic, blue screen lit, virtualized world.
You like the idea of getting more word-of-mouth, marketing your beautiful work beautifully, and in a way that makes the world better.
You like the idea of not having to use inauthentic scripts (or any scripts), or high-pressure pitching, or inauthentic self-promotion.
How am I doing so far?
The offer here is simple enough: I have a membership.
There’s a Basics tier for $7 USD/month + applicable taxes, and what we call the Fundamentals tier which is $2000 USD/year + applicable taxes.
It’s for ‘hippy entrepreneur’ types.
Mostly that seems to mean coaches and healers; service providers largely.
We get our share of somatic practitioners, therapists, workshop leaders, business advisors, yoga instructors, ritualists and ceremonialists, and the occasional crafter and artist, and god knows I love working with permaculture folks and farmers when I get the chance.
It focuses on a down-to-earth, grassroots, and long-term approach to ethical marketing that is consent-based, trauma-informed, and conscience driven. It’s the kind of marketing that produces results, while being easy on your jangled nervous system and letting you sleep at night.
Note: If you haven’t already you can read more about why I think it’s so hard for us to market ethically.
It’s a membership that asks real rigour of its members. It insists on depth and discipline in approaching marketing, not from a tactical level, but a deeper level of strategy rooted in seven core, time-tested fundamentals.

You can learn more about these here or in my Ethical Marketing Starter Kit.
For so many of my clients, so much of their life is going well… except for their business which is a constant struggle.
So, how does one turn it around?
One thought for you, whether or not you join my membership: business isn’t meant to be done alone.
You've likely fallen victim to the “Lonely-preneur syndrome” but business, marketing, and Life are all about relationships. That's one of the reasons we struggle when we’re trying to create our businesses in isolation, alone behind a screen or keyboard. We need feedback and help to see our blind spots. We need the ability to talk things through and brainstorm solutions, to get help even if it’s just to hear someone else say “you’re on the right track, keep going.”
There’s a good chance you can't keep relying on your spouse to talk things through with. We often hear that, at a certain point, they get tired of hearing about our clients' struggles and wish you had someone else to talk with.
If your business path has been like mine, you sort of tripped into the work you’re doing and have been stumbling forward solo ever since with no particular plan, just trying not to fall over from the momentum.
This membership is a chance to stop, stand up straight, take in a deep breath, and re-evaluate where you want to go from here and how… but with help.
You’ll be asked simple questions like “is this really the way you want to be living your life?” and, perhaps, more importantly “is your current business model set up so that it fits with who you are and what you most want to create?”
What this membership offers, most importantly, is space (or at least the excuse and encouragement to create it) to work on the these seven fundamentals of ethical marketing at your own pace and with the help of others through our course themed co-working days, pods & buddies systems support, and regular Q&A calls with myself.
Ah. But I’m jumping ahead…
YOU ARE AN ETHICAL SERVICE PROVIDER: The membership is primarily focused on service providers (usually coaches and healers).
MY CONTENT RESONATES WITH YOU: If you’ve followed my work for a while and it feels like home to you, that’s a good sign.
YOU ARE IN IT FOR THE LONGTERM: You want a profitable business for at least another decade. This is a big one. If you’re okay with having an expensive hobby, this membership isn’t for you. If you want it to be a business, then it is.
A YEAR OF FOCUS ON YOUR FUNDAMENTALS FEELS EXCITING: If giving yourself a year to go deep into the fundamentals of your business makes sense to you and it lights you up to think of how good it would feel to have solid foundations in place, welcome aboard! This is a year to steep deeply in ‘ethical marketing’, create the space your business needs to thrive, hone your niche, articulate a compelling point of view, craft a solid business model, identify and connect with more hubs for your business, and find sustainable and effective ways to share your business with those who need it most.
YOU ARE WILLING TO GIVE IT THE TIME: If you are willing to spend at least 5 hours/week working on this content, then it’s a good fit. Five hours a week of pulling back the bow of your business and aiming well to send the arrow of your work further will get you incredible results.
THE PRICE ≠ A HARDSHIP: If the price of this membership would cause you panic attacks or anxiety, then please enjoy our free content and come back later when you’ve got more financial space. Or you may choose to start with our Basics tier. We intentionally created the Basics version at a more accessible price with the Breathing Room & Revenue course so that you could work your way into being able to afford the Fundamentals tier.
YOU KNOW YOU NEED SOME EXTERNAL PERSPECTIVE: Sometimes we’re too close to the forest to see the trees. In this membership, you’ll find yourself rubbing elbows with kindred spirits (many of whom are already years or decades into their entrepreneurial journey) in zoom rooms, getting feedback on your marketing materials, and having a chance to be coached directly by myself (and the occasional guest teacher).
DIY COURSES WORK WELL FOR YOU: You’re the kind of person who wants to be able to go at their own pace and doesn’t like being either held back or rushed ahead by the group. You like to do things on your own time and in your own way and don’t need to be led through the content live on a call.
FEEL LIKE NOW IS THE MOMENT: You’ve got the feeling that, “this is my year.”
ARE DONE FLYING SOLO: You’ve outgrown the lone-wolf, “I can figure this out on my own” stage and are realizing how much you need some guidance, structure, and mentorship in your marketing. Even better if the idea of connecting with like minded entrepreneurs is exciting for you (we strongly encourage members to form ‘pods’ of 4-6 folks to support each other in their journey).
FEEL POLITICALLY HOMELESS: Maybe you used to feel strongly one way or the other and now you’re mostly praying for sanity.
SUPPORT LOCAL & HANDMADE: You love handmade things and support crafters when you can and are drawn to traditional skills, homesteading, and people growing their own food. You support local farmers whenever you can.
SUPPORT INDIGENOUS PEOPLE: You’re passionate about supporting indigenous peoples and are drawn to indigenous and ancestral cultures (particularly your own), mythology, folklore, and culture work.
LOVE THE TARDIS: You’re a fan of Doctor Who (and can name at least three actors who played them).
ARE A HIPPY: And you’ve got at least one, solid piece of hippy cred to prove it.
DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE: If you’re still figuring out the general direction you want your life to go in, I recommend to you the work of Alex Baisley.
ARE ABSOLUTELY DROWNING IN OVERWHELM: Sometimes we’ve got too much on our plate to take on even a little bit more (e.g. new kids, elderly parents needing care, full-time job, major health issues, etc.). There are some situations in which space can be made, and there are some that we just need to deal with as we find them.
WANT A LOT OF TECHNICAL AND TACTICAL HELP: I don’t offer much advice on specific tools. I know almost nothing about tech, AI, Meta Ads, web design, calendar systems, etc. My specialty is on the fundamentals, not the latest tactics.
ARE A FUNDAMENTALIST: If you need other people to share your worldview and political analysis to feel ok in the space.
ARE SEEKING COMMUNITY: Since the beginning, I’ve been clear that my membership is not a community. It’s not that bonds aren’t formed and friendships don’t erupt. They do. I’m holding out to see some folks get married. But this is a business membership. It’s not the unconditional love you’ve always sought. It’s not a family. It’s a bunch of like-minded people trying to grow their businesses and be good to each other in the process.
NEED INSTANT RESULTS: I have so many people come to my workshops looking for ‘immediately practical’ tactics. I get it. Believe me, I get it. But, in my experience, the real results come from going to the roots not the branches looking for fruit. If you want to get from nothing to six-figures in six months, look elsewhere. If you’ve got a workshop you need to sell out next month, this is not the program you need, although there is likely some great content in here that could help you improve your results quickly.
Which Tier of the Membership Is For You?
FUNDAMENTALS MEMBERSHIP DOORS OPEN MID-FEB
While these are subject to change, here is the basic outline as it stands:
Live Coaching with Tad: (Mondays at 8:00am - 9:30am PST): Bring your toughest questions and places you’re stuck in your business and drop it in the chat and I’ll give you my best advice on the matter.
Live Coaching with Tad: (First Monday of Every Month from 5:00pm - 6:00pm PST): We will be trialing this time for those in other time zones for the first few months and, if there’s a strong enough response, we’ll continue.
Cavern Sessions: Several times a month, you’ll have the opportunity to dig into one of the fundamentals in a two-hour, focused session led by MfH Facilitators and/or subject experts who will use their knowledge to steer the group. It will be a chance to get things done with the encouragement of your peers.
Here's a sample of what the flow of the Live Calls will be:
One of the ways we support you in getting the most from the membership is helping you to create a ‘pod’.
What is a pod?
It’s a group of 4-6 other members who you resonate with. While we help you to create a pod, the rest is up to your and your pod to self-direct: we won't be managing your pod, you will.
You might decide to all go through a course together. You might decide to all do your own courses but meet once a week via zoom to encourage each other and offer feedback where needed. You might just create a chat thread in WhatsApp where you keep each other posted with photos, texts, videos and voice notes. Whatever works for you and your pod!
All of the courses in our membership are self-paced. You can do them at your own time and in your own way.
Each course focuses on one of the Fundamentals.
Each course is divided into easy to do, simple to follow, bite-sized, practical steps towards a clear outcome so you never need to feel overwhelmed. You’ll just take it step by step.
Each course includes its own workbook that you can print off. Each one is designed to guide you through the content away from the glare of the blue screen. You can watch some videos and then go to a cafe somewhere and dig into the content with good old fashioned pen and paper. One of my commitments is to set this membership up to, as much as possible, minimize screen time. These workbooks are central to that.
Each course will contain the following:
Teaching Video: Each module begins with a video from myself laying out the core ideas and work involved in that particular step. These videos are normally between 5-10 minutes long.
Key Learning Points: The video will be summarized into the most important ‘take-away’ nuggets to help focus and anchor in your learning.
Your Actions for Today: You’ll be given some very practical homework to do (usually 10-20 minutes worth) to implement what you’ve just learned into your business.
Pod Exercise: You’ll also receive prompts on how to engage with your pod mates about your work that day and give suggestions on how they could best help you with translating those ideas into your business.
Bonus Content: When it’s available, you’ll also get links to Playlists and Articles with relevant content that can help you go deeper into the work of that particular module.
Don’t worry if you lose track of where you are. When you log back in, the system will remember for you. When you finish a module, you can mark it done. When you finish a course, you can mark it done and get yourself a badge of honour for your labours plus you’ll have a tangible result from having done it (e.g. having created a My Philosophy page on your website).
Breathing Room & Revenue: You create space in your business and identify the single biggest low hanging fruit on your business tree to bring in immediate cashflow.
Marketing for Hippies 101: You go deeper into the principles and fundamentals of ethical marketing and are guided to take them even deeper.
The Trap: Inner Work: You will get clear where on the inner and archetypal realms your business has been stymied.
How To Write Your Ideal Client Page: You craft and publish a page for your website that has your ideal clients saying, “Wow! That’s me!”
Deeper Niching: You hone your sense of your niche much more deeply than you ever have.
How To Write Your My Philosophy Page: You craft and publish a page for your website that has your ideal clients saying, “Oh my God! That makes so much sense!”
Deeper Point of View Marketing: You go beyond a My Philosophy page into the realm of Thought Leadership as you begin to articulate your core approach to your work.
Business Model: You create the beginnings of strong internal systems for your business, as well as an offer you can take to the marketplace that has your ideal clients saying, “Shut up and take my money!”
Hub Marketing: You begin to set up your business so it’s easier and easier for your ideal clients to find you by weaving in the three principles of Word Of Mouth Marketing, implementing referral systems, and identifying the best hubs for your business.
Sharing: You are introduced to multiple tactics and approaches to getting the word out about your business.
THING #1: Prioritized Responses: Can you get my attention by commenting on my content on social media and YouTube? Yes, maybe. But I prioritize my responses to members within the membership platform over my public platforms. Feel free to DM me any time.
THING #2: First Dibs On Any New Stuff I Make: As I grow my body of work, experiment with new ideas, and offer new courses, books, or programs; you’ll be the first to be invited.
THING #3: First Dibs (And Discounts) on Puttering Sessions: Every month, I offer up about a dozen chances to work with me one-on-one, which I call the Puttering Sessions. But, if you’re in the Fundamentals tier, you’ll get notified before anyone else (even before the advanced notice list). Plus you also get a great discount on each session.
Thing #4: Extra Coaching With Tad for Niche Reviews: This used to be available to the public but I've now decided that only Fundamentals tier members can purchase this. You will send me your best summary of your niche in 280 characters and I will send you a 4-7 minute voice note with my best reflections to improve it. These are no longer available to the general public (excepting occasional promotions and as part of The Niching Bundle).
FAQ: So, after one year I’ll have my fundamentals down?
In my experience, after a year, you’ll have the skeleton of your fundamentals in place. And it depends where you’re starting. For example, if you’re straight out of corporate and you’ve been steeped in coercive sales and marketing approaches and you’re just starting a niche-less coaching business during a very busy period of your life; you’re likely to take longer. If you show up to the membership with your ethics aligned, plenty of space, and a crystal clear niche; you’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish in twelve months.
FAQ: Why “one year”?
When sharing about my membership, I often say, “Give Us and Your Business One Year”. This is because one year of focused effort is the bare minimum of how long it takes to set worthy foundations in place and build something of substance.
And, of course, that kind of focus means other things may temporarily suffer as they are set aside for a time. We can’t do everything. God knows we’ve tried. And it’s sad (let’s not pretend it isn’t). It means saying ‘no’ to some things to fully say ‘yes’ to your business.
FAQ: When are the live calls?
Call times with Tad are mostly chosen to support North America and Europe right now, as this is where the majority of our members are located. Starting in February 2026, we will be trialling a monthly Monday 5pm PST for Australia-Asia, and if it’s attended well, we’ll likely continue.some things to fully say ‘yes’ to your business.
FAQ: What is the account cancellation policy?
You can cancel your subscription at any time! PLEASE NOTE: We do not provide pro-rated refunds, see our full Refund Policy
FAQ: What if I don’t provide a service and my business is product-based?
While many of Tad's clients are service providers, there are also artists, musicians, and others making and selling products. The common thread is the desire to build socially conscious, sustainable, profitable businesses with ethics, beauty, and effectiveness. So although the content is focused on service providers, product-based businesses still stand to gain value from our membership in many ways.
How does selling a product and a service differ? Selling a product is, in some ways, easier. They can see and touch your product. But with a service, you're selling the invisible. It's ephemeral.
The setup is the same: your ideal clients are on Island A and they want to get to Island B. Your business (or products) are like a boat that can get them from one island to another.
The main difference is this: with a service your focus in marketing is on that journey from Island A to B. With a product, you're selling the boat itself. And so then your POV work is not about how to make the journey but, rather, about how such a boat should be made.
If you'd like to get to know Tad's approach to marketing products, this playlist might be helpful. Most of the focus for product makers ends up being on Hub Marketing (of which there are many free playlists as well).
FAQ: What kind of personal support is available?
This membership isn’t one-on-one coaching. But you will have access to multiple tiers of personal support:
Onboarding + Dedicated Marketing for Hippies Membership Coordinator: When you join the membership, you’ll be hosted in a group onboarding call as well as have someone you can reach out to as needed to help you find what you’re looking for.
Self-Assessment Survey: When you join the Membership, you’ll be invited to take a quiz to determine which course you should start with to get the best results.
Puttering Session Discounts: You get first dibs and discounts on one-on-one coaching sessions with me.
Niche Reviews: Want me to take a look at your niche? You can buy a Niche Review and send me your best writeup and receive a voice note from me offering my reflections. These are largely for members only now, and no longer available to the public.
Live Coaching via Q&A Calls with Tad: You’ll have access to regular, group coaching calls with me where you can ask me anything and bring the work you’ve been doing in the courses.
Pods: You’ll have plenty of opportunities to get feedback from your peers.
Cavern Days: There will be member-led, two-hour calls where you can dive deep into one of the fundamentals together (e.g. a two-hour Niching Cavern), and give and receive personalized feedback with each other.
FAQ: How does this differ from your original Marketing for Hippies Membership?
When we started our Version 1.0 of the membership in December of 2020, we put everything into it: every article, video, ebook, webinar, and course I’d ever created. On one hand it was generous and convenient. But on the other (much larger) hand, it was utterly overwhelming for members. They didn’t know where to start or where to look to find things.
In the Version 2.0, we’ve pared it down to a handful of carefully selected and well constructed courses (inside of which you can find links to all the relevant materials you need). The left-hand side bar has gone from having, literally, 200 dropdowns, to less than a dozen. It’s not that we’ve removed content or value, but that we have organized it much better so that you’ll only come across content when you need it. We’ve also made it much easier to find and apply the content you’re looking for (e.g. instead of having all of the 2000+ videos we’ve made in the membership, we will give you links to key videos and bonus playlists if needed).
FAQ: Why are you increasing your prices now?
How can we be raising our prices when times are so tight (and with the likelihood of it getting tighter)? A few reasons:
Mostly importantly: This membership is designed for people who want a profitable business, not an expensive hobby. For many who join the membership, getting a single new client at a premium package would more than pay off the entire $2000 USD. If you can’t see the business case for investing in improving your marketing, this membership may not be for you.
There’s a lot more and better support for members than when we first started the membership. This Version 2.0 of the membership is ten times better and more useful than what we released in December 2020 when we had no idea what we were doing.
We’ve been meaning to increase the price of our membership for years and have told people it’s coming. So there’s no surprise in this for those who’ve been around.
We’ve been undercharging: We've been charging a lot less for what we offer than most of our colleagues for years.
Our team has doubled in size since when we started the membership and everyone on my team earns a living wage.
As our business has grown so have our expenses for tech and tech support.
I’ve been in this business since 2001. I’m one of the original ‘ethical marketing’ coaches out there. I’ve been in the world of sales and marketing since 1994. I’m not a 21 year old business coach. I think that $2000 USD/year (plus applicable taxes) for what we’re offering is a bargain. For many of my members, even getting one good new client would make them more than $2000 USD. If you’re serious about growing your business, this will repay itself. Again, if this is a hobby, this membership isn’t a fit.
Setting the foundations of your business well will continue to pay off for you as long as you’re in that business. The work you do in your time in the membership will long outlast the time you spend in it.
This new price feels ‘right’ to us over here.
If affordability is an issue, you still have access to our entire library of 2000+ free YouTube videos, live workshops offered on a PWYC basis (if they come to a town near you), as well as the $7 USD/month (plus applicable taxes) Basics tier.
I started my Membership in December 2020. The lockdowns were in full swing all over the world and people were scrambling to take their businesses online in the midst of the mayhem.
The urgent panic of those times is gone but it seems to have been replaced by a slower, steadier, grinding fear and stress. So many entrepreneurs I know are at the breaking point and unsure if their business has any chance of success.
Most of my colleagues, as the coaching and healing market become increasingly saturated, and the price of everything goes up, are seeing their numbers drop.
Things I’ve heard from clients and colleagues:
“This year sales have been so flat it's drained all my reserves.”
“People are more reluctant to invest in themselves, not because they don’t want the help, but because they don’t trust the future. It’s caution born from constant uncertainty.”
“I suspect within the next five years, my job in the office will be obsolete, thanks to AI. I won’t be the only one. It’s terrifying and I don’t know how we manage our way thru this.”
“The platforms most of us depended on for marketing our biz have fucked us over and limited our reaches so much its barely worth posting, and many of my ideal clients are consciously leaving or minimizing time on these platforms for their mental health which is great but bad for business.”
“It is hard to find the right price structure that honors inflation and our need to make more with other people's lack of spare income.”
“People seem so overwhelmed that they're struggling to even get through online content... even my membership which is a 60 min ritual, short meditation and inquiry practice a month half the people say they haven't 'had the time!’”
“It feels hard to even talk about some subjects when there is such a big looming threat and the feeling we aren't doing enough, that other stuff isn't as important comparatively etc.”
“I see what you're seeing. The bracing, the gritting, over-extended, the burnout, the dreams unrealized, the suffering. Both in corporate spaces and entrepreneurship.”
“So many people who are finding it incredibly difficult to make big life decisions and move forward with a strong sense of direction because we all have a deep-seated fear of what’s to come.”
“I'm seeing a big decrease in discretionary spending. A re-focus of resources. I've noticed that service-based businesses (at least those who offer more coaching-esque, or healing services) have struggled the most. My own experience running an online course business showed me the big shift in spending habits.”
“I'm feeling the same pinch in my work. Seems harder to find new clients, and the ones I have don't seem to "have time" to do the work.”
“I think there is something real to be said about the wellness/Spiritual/healing industry simply being exhausted at this point. We've been holding the collective through enormous shifts since pre-covid times, and we're still 'in the trenches' so to speak, with no end in sight. We're all tired, even if we are in our heart centered and soul aligned passions.”
And then there’s the money: almost anyone I know my age or younger can’t even imagine owning a home (unless they inherit either it or the money to buy it).
Most of us are waiting for the other shoe to drop: the next big market crash or disaster. I see so many people bracing, with reasons good and bad, against the threats (known and unknown) of the days to come. As one colleague wrote, “There is a massive nervous system contraction happening collectively, a quiet tightening that comes from years of uncertainty, overstimulation, and global tension.”
And as my dear friend Kakisimow Iskwew wrote, “What I see a lot of is a few things...a) people who are scrambling to survive amidst the collapse b) people who are trying to "get their share, while the going is good (which I would argue has actually passed and now it's fighting for the scraps). I agree...most will never own a home. And...maybe "owning" a home is no longer the priority but knowing how to make a home. I think it's easy to miss sometimes...the shoe dropped. And we were occupied elsewhere. What we are seeing is the full depth of its imprint now. The ripples are becoming waves. But it dropped already. What we are waiting for has in fact happened repeatedly in our waiting.
I see the trepidation amongst the older ones amongst us who feel more vulnerable as they age.
If you’re like me, you also see the increased divisions in society that are tearing apart the fabric of all of our communities (i.e. vaccines, gender, Israel/Palestine). Many people I know have found themselves politically homeless as the old alliances have shifted and changed and found themselves with strange bedfellows and comrades they never imagined aligning with.
You see the rise in the fears and the fascisms, the collapse and polycrisis that defies an easy, single-cause diagnosis and therefore a single solution. You see the rise of technocracy and transhumanism, the Great Resets, Fourth Industrial Revolutions, the Digital ID’s and digital currencies, and AI has come in with all of its profits and promises and its hidden underbelly as we all grapple with what ‘right relationship’ with it means (if relationship is even the right way to think of this). As a friend put it, “AI was ‘supposed to save us,’ but instead it's giving us psychosis and starting to take all the artist's jobs.”
To save us from this are promises of a Universal Basic Income but many question the wisdom of this.
Farmers are struggling and farms are shutting down. Rural communities are being hit hard by defundings and the de-populatings that follow.
Young people are struggling in ways that leave us unsure and undone.
The way the dying are helped out of this world and the newly born are welcomed in is a compounding of cultural poverties that would take hours to articulate fully.
Many I know are coming to understand what Wendell Berry meant when he wrote, “It is easy for me to imagine that the next great division of the world will be between people who wish to live as creatures and people who wish to live as machines.”
We watch it, and can’t seem to stop watching it and reacting to it, with some mix of horror and hopefulness through those small black mirrors that find their way into our bed, late at night (even though we swore not to turn it on again).
Many can see this all happening in real time but feel powerless or confused about how exactly we can all come together to stop it. Or if we can.
The stress of all of this is tearing at the already tattered fabric of our modern lives and pushing even the most promising projects and well resourced relationships to the breaking point.
So many people I know have quietly confessed to me that these days have an ‘end times’ feeling about them. It’s hard to argue. Has it always been this way? Is it just the omnipresence of the ‘newsfeed’ (much of which isn’t real news and none of which seems to feed anything other than the algorithm)? Are we just more informed and aware now or have things taken a sudden slide for the worse?
Well, you could ask the village elders but, for most of us, there aren’t any and the breakdown in any shared understanding of who we can trust might be one of the surest signs of the end times there is.
And so we’re in a different time than when we started because the future we imagine for ourselves today isn’t the same future we imagined for ourselves even five years ago.
And while there are many who claim that this is all a part of the evolution of human beings from caterpillar to butterfly and that, on the other side of it will be a kind of spiritual Utopia, the words ring hollow.
But there is something about these times that is also galvanizing something in people.
Maybe it’s got to do with what the good Michael Meade wrote in his book Why The World Doesn’t End:
"The meaning of the word “end” might seem obvious and conclusive; yet root meanings reveal “tailings” and “remnants” and “that which is left over”… [it] carries the sense that the current state cannot continue and that it is too late for things to simply be repaired.
In order for things to change in a meaningful way, many things must come to and end. As archetype of radical change, [it] presents a pattern in which a shattering of forms occurs before the world as we know it can be reconstituted.
In the cosmic turn around if enough endings can be found, things can begin again… When the end seems near, ancient and lasting things are also close and waiting to be discovered… What we find at the end are both last things and things that last… Chaos not only describes the way that things fall apart at the end, but also the original state from which all creation continually arises…
In the end, all we can offer the world is the life we came here to live and the gifts our soul would have us give. When the end seems near, genuine security can only be found in taking the kind of risks that lead to a greater sense of life and a more encompassing way of being in the world…
Great crises and impossible demands often provoke hidden resources and reveal hints of the hidden wholeness and unity of life. The threat of collapse and utter loss can provoke a deeper sense of wholeness where nothing but total involvement and whole-heartedness will work… this capacity for great vision and imagination tends to awaken only after other approaches have failed.”
I think that’s as good a description of our situation as I’ve ever read.
When you find yourself at the end of your rope, and what feels like the end of days, when all is unravelling, it might be time to go back to the fundamentals that have outlasted us all.
That’s what this membership is about: the fundamentals. Seven of them. One stacked upon the other starting with ethics and ending with you sharing your work with the world.
You won’t find the latest trends or tech in our membership (though I might recommend some of it to you). What you will find is help in laying the most solid foundations possible for your business.
Why does this all matter?
I’ll make a few predictions. These aren’t about creating fear. This is just me calling it as I see it.
Here it is: within five years, much of the holistic and coaching industry will be wiped out. As financial pressures increase (and I expect them to increase profoundly in the next three years), one of the first expenses to go will be money spent with generic, run-of-the-mill healers and coaches.
One colleague wrote, “Watching many MLM companies collapse and fly-by-night Coaches stop seeing the easy money they once expected feels like a necessary market correction. There seem to be many similar shifts and corrections in progress. I see the beauty in the realization that many business models that worked during the 2020 shift to online are not sustainable long-term. A necessary remembering that hustle and trends do not sustainability make.”
I would suggest that anyone who doesn’t have their business fundamentals in place won’t make it. Anyone who has been operating unethically won’t make it. Anyone who is too overcommitted to prioritize getting their foundations in place won’t make it. Anyone trying to be everything to everyone and who is afraid of telling the truth of what they see from where they’re standing won’t make it. Anyone still treating their business like a hobby won’t make it. Anyone who is stuck in growing their business by cold approaching strangers won’t make it. Anyone using tactics to share their work that, deep in their craw, don’t feel good to do, won’t make it.
Now, you might have all of those things in place and still not make it. God knows there are no guarantees in this lifetime.
So, take it or leave it, that’s my honest assessment of what’s coming.
This membership is my best answer to that (but it might not be the best answer for you).
My membership, and all of my work is dedicated to the simple premise and hard practice of braiding together the three strands of ethics, effectiveness, and beauty.
Ethics and effectiveness are the two core fundamentals. Beauty is the foundation and so the mission of my little business is to restore the beauty of the marketplace. Not all of it. Not most of it. Not much of it. My little corner.
How do we do that? By heeding the words of the good Martin Prechtel when he wrote, “Be beautiful on the way to the answer, That is the answer.”
And of course, yes, both you and I know that there’s an immense amount of good happening in the world too: both on its own and being crafted in response to all of this. There are people relearning their ancestral languages and traditional skills, there’s an explosion in ritual work, grief ceremonies, herbalism, and holistic medicine. As a Forest School teacher wrote, “Since so many people already work on screens, more people feel a huge need to use their hands, make things, and return to the real world.”
As things grow darker there will also be a rise of those responding to it with light.
My guess is that your work is a part of that and, perhaps in part at least, prompted by the darkness of the times.
My guess is that you are doing your best to respond with beauty to the ugliness of the times (and do this while paying the rent and sustaining your family and friends).
Is this possible?
I don’t know in every case. All I know is that, while success isn’t guaranteed, ignoring the fundamentals guarantees failure.
The times we are in are full of a growing sense of desperation which too many try to remedy with approaches that deepen the desperation (e.g. get another degree, distract ourselves, fall into discouragement or be willing to be deceptive).
But there’s another way: depth.
Depth is the antidote to desperation.
Or at least it’s the one I’m recommending.
If all of this has something jump up inside you and urge you to keep going, I hope you’ll consider joining us in this online “Feel Good Marketing Fellowship,” this raggedy, motley crew of wayward entrepreneurs, this Hippy Marketing Club, this Coalition of Creatives, this Community of Conscious Entrepreneurs, this League of Life Coaches, this Haven of Healers and Hippie Business Owners, this Slow Marketing Society.
We’d be honoured to have you.
If not, well that’s okay too. Heaven knows my membership isn’t the only game in town. I hope you find what you’re looking for (or even better) somewhere else down the road.
Stay human,
Tad

I started following Tad, slowly at first, following his talk at Mark Walsh’s online Conscious Marketing Event in Summer 2020. I was just planning to systematically work through Tad’s extensive library of videos, not knowing where to start, when the Marketing for Hippies Membership was announced. It was perfect timing. An answer to prayer! Honestly, like everyone else, I had no idea what to expect. There were four BIG UNEXPECTED wins for me.
Win #1: The amazing group of people who have signed up with a generous heart ready to share and support others without a sense of competition, so I’ve already made several new Soul-friends since I started to connect with the group, in the last three weeks. There is also a feeling of belonging here, a sense of homecoming. I’ve nicknamed it the Hippy Colony!
Win #2: There’s NO pressure. Go at your own pace. BUT there’s help available if you need it!
Win #3: The depth of learning from attending LIVE events like Linda Katz Case Study, Community Collaboration sessions and The Meantime.
Win #4: My BIGGEST unexpected win is knowing that there are REAL LIVE PEOPLE ‘here’ (yeah..it feels like a place!) who are actually using SLOW MARKETING to create SUSTAINABLE PROFITABLE ‘Good for the World’ businesses. The fact these role models exist is a HUGE relief and blessing. I feel I’m experiencing a paradigm shift by osmosis just by being here! Furthermore, if these role models are our mirrors, then the fact that I am part of this group signifies I am getting close to achieving what for a long time I feared was impossible – to successfully promote and market myself authentically and honestly, fully aligned with my truth and the integrity I strive to bring to all I do.

Tad’s membership program is a virtual forest of courses, articles, tools and techniques on clarifying your niche and marketing for people passionate about doing what they can to make the world a better place without bullshit, hard sell or convincing. Fortunately in this forest there are some pretty good guides!
Rhawn Morgan, Ritualist

I’ve been following Tad for almost two decades, attended a few events and one puttering session. I knew I needed more help with my ‘stuff’ as my understanding and offers keep evolving; so when the membership came up, I was so excited. Almost all the Tad stuffs in one place. YAY! I don’t even think I read the sales letter fully – just jumped right in. Knowing Tad’s work for so long and seeing his integrity and value over the years just grow and get better, it was a no brainer for me. Working with Tad is fabulous but what’s even more amazing are the people he brings together.
Natalie Forrest, Yoga Applied EcoPsychology

Tad’s membership programme is so rich and luscious and full with information and resources, and at the same time a safe community place, where everyone shows up with honesty and integrity. Tad has an incredible ability to listen and really hear, to look and really see, he is a fountain of knowledge and experience which he shares so generously, he tells bad jokes that make you laugh, and in a seemingly effortless way supports you on your journey. And he is also just an all-round good person really. In only 2 months, without even realising, I have learnt so much and my approach to my marketing has taken a 180 degree turn. Every day I now look forward to investing time and energy into the development of my business. Thank you!
Katrin Heuser, Yoga and Therapist

I jumped into this membership after having only seen one of Tad’s video because it just felt right. And when I started diving into the comprehensive material and heard Tad say something I’ve felt (and taught) for a while – that sales are NOT about convincing anyone of anything, but about seeing if people are fit for our work – I knew I was in the right place. I’ve struggled to find experts to work with in my business who have the flow, authenticity, non-pushy and genuine heart-centered approach that works for me. But the choice isn’t between marketing tactics that feel shit or lack of success. I don’t think that we need to sacrifice success in order to either stick to our values or have a deep positive impact. In fact, I think it’s the opposite. And I also think that Tad’s genuine and practical marketing genius can help conscious business owners with big hearts to increase their potential for positive impact. Because everyone wins from that.

My intention for joining the membership was to learn more from Tad after years of following his work in social media. My deepest wish was this can help me be aligned with my offerings and how I can show up authentically. Weeks into the membership, I am not only expanding how I view my work and the service I provide, I am also celebrating being with inspiring people who are also bringing out amazing things in the world. What I am loving are the engagement and depth of conversations, the willingness of people to be vulnerable in asking support, the generosity of the members in giving insightful feedbacks, and the energy is so nurturing!
Lana Jelenjev, Community Alchemist

My impression of Tad landed when I saw pictures of him. I loved how he owned his hippie-ness in the way that he dressed and looked. That, combined with his clarity about marketing, what it means for him and his ability to speak simply and clearly made it clear to me that how he worked aligns with how I wished to show up. At first, I hesitated, because I have a tendency to pay for things and then abdicate my responsibility to engage in what I am buying. I use my intuition to make decisions and my intuition guided me to follow Tad via his newsletter/YouTube, etc. When his Membership offering showed up, that resonated as a way to engage that works for me.
I tiptoed into my engagement with Tad. Each video and each newsletter just confirmed that his approach resonated for me. I have a very low-key approach to marketing and I want to continue to create a business that I love and that sustains me financially, emotionally and energetically. I want to make an impact without losing my joy for life–that is a knife edge for me. If I lose my joy, then I tip over into depression. Tad presents marketing as a way to share your gifts and talents. It is about being authentically you. I particularly like his take on POV marketing.
Tad’s approach to niching and its unfolding is great as well. In the Membership, my progress reports have been really useful for me to stay engaged and directional. My business feels more grounded and although that has resulted in more income, it is more a sense of knowing there is place to go and a structure that can keep me on track. I have a degree in marketing and have always had a positive relationship with marketing.
What I love about the Membership is the ‘easy Tiger’ slow marketing approach. It reminds me that I can breathe my way into the world. I started my latest business in my 50s. I think at this stage that I learn from every experience.
In my experience, knowing about tools and processes is great, but heart-led guidance is what works. I don’t think that people who ‘sell process’ or ‘the way’ intentionally burn people–that is just where they are, and to be honest, I feel compassion for them. They are often people who believe ‘hard work’ is part of the formula.

I have followed Tad for almost 9 years and mostly just watched a few videos, read a few blogs, read his newsletter, seen FB posts. I have grown to really respect him and what he does, and to trust him. So when he offered the chance to join a membership program I thought about it and decided, yes, it is worth it. And I am loving it! [an aside:apart from the tech glitches and the learning curve of the site].
I love the community I am finding, the information being shared, and finally being able to afford Tad’s books and courses! My understanding of how to have a sustainable business is growing and I am clarifying what my business is. Tad’s approach fits me so well. And he has a wry sense of humor which just delights me! My joining at this time demonstrates what he says about there being the right time for an offer to land.
Iris Weaver, NatureBased Soul Healing Guide

Tad and his team are great! Their attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot and make good on the inevitable startup pains of the platform and their willingness to incorporate feedback from us has made my first month here both productive and very enjoyable.
The community support and feedback on tasks when I ask has also been wonderful. It seems everyone here is familiar even though we’ve never met before. I am looking forward to the synergies that are starting to emerge as we all support each other in achieving our goals of entrepreneurial success and freedom.
Dr Doug Tataryn, Life Coach and Therapist

My experience in Tad’s membership so far has been highly positive. I joined to get some more feedback on my niche and my next approaches to connect with those ideals clients. I’ve been close, SO close for what seems like ages on a really great fitting niche. Within a month of joining I now have that clarity. Between a bit of personal attention and questions from Tad, and some great group discussions and collaborations, I got exactly what I needed for that last step in my niche clarity.

If you are not part of this membership, you are missing out. It is so worth the investment and then some. I can now to get access to all Tad’s amazing eBooks and join any of the courses, teleseminars and workshops. The community calls and feedback and conversations have been amazing and I have already had 2 enquiries for work. There is also a wealth of blogs and video content around different topics … all in one place.
On top of that I get to hang out with an amazing group of people with the same values and ethics of bringing about positive change in the world and supporting each other to grow our businesses. Even if you are a business veteran and doing well, there is always so much more to share and learn.
Karen Black, Web Designer

What a privilege to be included in this the membership and on this platform. I was relatively new to Tad and the Marketing for Hippies community when I came across the membership but could immediately see the value in what was on offer. I have been intimidated and struggling for YEARS with even knowing where to start with a marketing plan, to the point that I was almost paralyzed and going in circles.
Within a matter of days I was surrounded by the most incredible and supportive community of ethically minded entrepreneurs and had access to every imaginable self-paced resource geared toward facilitating my success. Tad’s entire network of support staff are genuine and truly invested in providing a phenomenal experience, always going above and beyond to ensure that we’re having the experience we were promised.
AND the absolute icing on the cake is that IT ACTUALLY WORKS! By simply following the steps, listening and putting myself out there I already have more quality clients than I know what to do with, and that’s a really good problem to have!
Laurena Brittain, Relationship Coach

The breadth of Tad’s learning materials is truly impressive, with topics ranging from niche to business model and pricing as well as the pure nuts and bolts of marketing. There is a consistently high quality of thinking behind the courses and content here. It is so wonderful (and such a relief!) to come across resources like this, designed for someone like me, who sees business in the way I do. The access to learning along with the generous support from like minded entrepreneurs has helped me focus on developing my business and marketing in a way I haven’t managed before. I am very glad I signed up!
Danielle Styles, Copywriting Coach

If you have been sitting on the sidelines of the Tad hippie festival for awhile now ~ watching his videos, reading his blog, and resonating with his words, then I encourage you to step in from the fringe and into the party! When you do, you will have access to everything under the Tad tent. All located in one convenient place and supported by his great team, in an easy to use platform. Plus, you get to hang out with us great folks who speak the same marketing language and know exactly what you are going though.
Dianna Graves

In just a few weeks of diving in the courses and attending the calls, I’ve achieved more clarity than ever on my niche and the different elements of my marketing. Tad has a simple and clear way of presenting these topics, and creating immediate action. Cherry on the cake, his humour and relaxed attitude makes it enjoyable to talk about marketing… Who would have thought! ?
I’m glad I joined the membership, it has turned something that felt complex and boring to me, into a creative and generous practice. And something I love about this membership, is a very special energy I never experienced in any other online community. Tad has experience in non-violent communication, and that shows in the quality of interaction during the calls, but also in general in the online portal.
